Patio Series: A Celebration of BBQ and Whiskey

Slide off of the summer flip-flops and slip on your best fall boots for an evening on the Patio at Bistro 72’s BBQ and Whiskey. On September 13, we will be celebrating American cuisine, liquor and music.

Our whiskey-inspired drinks menu will treat your taste buds to notes of smooth spices. We’ll be basting seasoned brisket and smoked meats in our signature barbeque sauce flavored to compliment your whiskey selections. You can also try our whiskey-rubbed, slow-cooked barbeque sliders.

At the bar, we’ll be mixing up cocktails with Widow Jane Whiskey, made in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Widow Jean’s flavor notes butter, cream, and toffee, with a complexity that boasts a cinnamon afterglow. Like the best whiskey manufacturers in the world, Widow Jane starts with a critical component: the water. Made with sweet water from the Widow Jane Mine, deep in the heart of Hudson Valley, it contains the perfect mineral content to make and cut this award-winning whiskey.

Our Americana celebration continues with the folk-rock stylings of Dave March. March is a celebrated local singer and songwriter whose musical talents have been highly recognized. He was a founding member of the critically-acclaimed ensemble, Miles to Dayton. His seasoned style of musical entertainment highlights hometown roots and will have your boots tapping along as you sip and savor the flavors of the evening.

Rosé All Day – or Night – During Our Rosé Garden Party

Versatile. Flavorful. Refreshing. Rosé is the summertime drink of 2018, and for good reason. It’s the perfect wine for any occasion, perfectly straddling the line between the lightness of white wines and the depth of red wines.

Whether you’re a rosé beginner or connoisseur, you’ll enjoy some of the best examples of this blush beauty during our Rosé Garden Party hosted by Aime Roquesante on July 12 from 6-9pm.

We’ll be featuring Côtes du Provence rosé, considered the quintessential example of rosé winemaking. With notes of strawberry, watermelon, and cherries, you’ll enjoy the world through rosé-colored glasses while enjoying a special menu perfectly paired with this exquisite wine. To add to the evening of luxury and summertime tastes, Harvest Moon Shellfish CO. will be shucking oysters at our raw bar. Harvest Moon specializes in local Eastern Oysters caught daily in the Great Peconic Bay, between the Twin Forks of Long Island. 

To round out the ambiance, we’re inviting vintage jazz and swing vocalist Vanessa Trouble to perform for our tables. Trouble performs across Manhattan and the Hamptons and her talented croons will perfectly complement the evening’s savory explorations.

You won’t need a secret handshake or a special knock on the door to get into this speakeasy. Everyone’s welcome at Bistro 72 for an evening hosted by Koval Gin, guaranteed to transport you back to a time when the jazz was smooth and the gin was ‘hot’.

Gin has been the elixir of many a sought-after drink. From an old-fashioned Gin and Tonic to the vintage James Bond Martini, we’ll be serving up classic favorites along with some new twists. Our Executive Chef Deb Scherer has fashioned a food pairing menu that will complement the specialty drinks for the evening, including a Wild Mushroom Flatbread with spinach, exotic mushrooms, goat and mozzarella cheeses and balsamic glaze and Mussels with plum tomatoes, chorizo, basil, and a garlic and butter wine sauce. For those seeking some hearty sustenance to counteract the libations, our spin on the Lobster Roll includes knuckle and claw lobster salad and is served with sea salt truffle fries.

As you savor your gin, Johnny Sax will entertain with his smooth jazz sounds. Performing across venues on Long Island for over 20 years, Johnny Sax has become a local favorite.

This summer, Bistro 72 is debuting our Live Music Brunch series, a rotating group of local musicians that will be a satisfying addition to your meal. From 12-3 every Sunday, you can enjoy live music while you taste Chef Deb Scherer’s sweet and savory brunch confections.

Toast your weekend with our Daily Grind Martini. Fresh espresso, Frangelico, Baileys, and vanilla vodka seamlessly blend into a cocktail with enough kick to get you out and about. Or keep it classic with a Bloody Local featuring locally-made LiV Vodka, Murph’s Bloody Mary Mix and Holy Schmitt’s Horseradish.

Start your day on a hearty note with our Brunch Burger. This guest favorite features a whopping half-pound Angus beef patty on a brioche bun. The brunch twist comes courtesy of a fried egg and a delightfully sinful, buttery hollandaise sauce.

If you’re looking for a fresher option, try our take on Avocado Toast. Perfectly seasoned, served atop fresh baguette slices and topped with a just-runny fried egg, you’ll get your daily omega-3’s while still feeling like you’ve indulged.
