Two Great Ways to Celebrate Cinco De Mayo

There’s no better way to spend Cinco De Mayo then at our tables! In honor of the holiday, we’ve partnered with Hotel Indigo to co-host a Cinco De Mayo Murder Mystery Dinner and Show on May 5th, 2017 at 7pm in Hotel Indigo’s ballroom! For $55++ per person, you’ll get a 3-course dinner by Bistro 72 and an interactive murder mystery show by The Killing Kompany. The fun continues after the show in Bistro 72 with live music by local musician Michael Duca until 11pm. You can purchase tickets here and stay updated on the event by joining us on Facebook here.

If a Murder Mystery show isn’t your style, you can still enjoy a Cinco-De-Mayo-inspired meal made with local ingredients á la carte in the restaurant. See the menu here.

Both menus offer fantastic entree options. You’ll be able to feast on a French Breast Chicken drizzled in mole sauce and served with a side of rice and beans. Mole sauce is a dark red or brown sauce that’s usually made from a mixture of fruit, chili peppers, a nut, and sometimes even chocolate. Both menus also feature a Seafood Paella, a traditional dish from the Valencia region of Spain, which we’ve made with mussels, shrimp, calamari, and chorizo mixed with rice. For the murder mystery prix fixe, we’re offering a New York Strip Steak with chimichurri sauce, rice, and beans. Chimichurri sauce is usually made of finely-chopped parsley, minced garlic, oil, oregano, and white vinegar. Originating from Argentina, it’s a bright, flavorful sauce that perfectly complements our NY Strip Steak. The á la carte menu features, instead, a Grilled Garlic & Herb Pork Chop with cilantro lime risotto & pico de gallo.

For dessert, both menus boast a Tres Leches Cake with vanilla cream frosting and maraschino cherries. Tres Leches Cake is a cake that’s baked and then soaked in three different kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. The dessert is very popular across Latin America.

We’d love to see you on Cinco De Mayo! If you’d like to make a weekend of the fun, call Hotel Indigo at 631-369-2200 ext.0 for special room rates and packages.

Diners benefit since they can try out a new restaurant or specialty dishes while saving money. We benefit from the pleasure of your company. Our chef told us she loves Long Island Restaurant Week because it allows her to “get feedback from guests on dishes that are new and exciting.” She also said it also allows her to come up with a “creative, bold, and different type menu that Bistro 72 has not yet done.” Our kitchen puts a lot of thought into every course, so no matter which option you choose, all the dishes are balanced from beginning to end.

The restaurant week menu is available all night Sunday, April 23 – Thursday, April 27, but only until 7pm on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. Make a reservation before this special ends by calling (631) 369-3325.

Get In Touch With Your Dinner Spirit

On Thursday, April 20th we will be hosting the Steak & Cigar Dinner where you can enjoy an evening of USDA Prime Porterhouse Steak and a selection of spirits.

We wanted to highlight the spirits of the evening that will accompany you through this culinary journey. Upon your arrival at Bistro 72, you can request a cocktail of your choice from the bar while hors d’oeuvres are being passed around. They include lump crab meat and avocado, scallop ceviche and mango salsa, and dijon and chive beef tartare.

Your next libation, which accompanies your salad, is a glass of Casamigos Tequila. Launched by Rande Gerber, entertainment industry businessman and his partner Hollywood actor George Clooney, the pair created the label out of their love for tequila. They enjoy it on the rocks, by the shot, and at times straight from the bottle. Casamigos Tequila was born from the tequila-filled nights they had with friends. The result was the best-tasting, smoothest tequila whose taste doesn’t have to be covered up with salt or lime. You’ll get to discover it for yourself.

TrinitasCellars
To complement your entree, you’ll get to try the Trinitas Cellars Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet 2013. Latin for trinity, Trinitas represents the Holy Trinity, a central Christian concept integrated into the winery’s mission and winemaking philosophy: sun, soil, and humanity. Sun represents God who nourishes the grapes, soil represents the co-creation with God and man on earth working together. Lastly, humanity represents the growers, winemaker and extended family—who ultimately come together to make Trinitas wines a reality to be enjoyed by all.

To complement your decadent dessert, we had to pair it something with a kick and that’s Willett Potstill Whiskey. The palate is a balance of caramel, vanilla, spices and citrus. The taste, authentically bourbon. Willett Distillery was founded in 1936 and this year celebrated the 80th anniversary of when Thompson Willett and his family put their first barrel into storage. This year also marks their 25,000th barrel.

For the finale, make your way to the outdoor fireplace and enjoy a mild, medium or bold cigar from the Hampton Cigar Company. Continue your evening and enjoy the live music by Miles to Dayton who will be performing until 10pm.

A cocktail of your choice, Casamigos Tequila, Trinitas Cellars wine, Porterhouse, Willett Potstill Whiskey and a Cigar. Experience all of this with the Steak & Cigar Dinner.

The Steak & Cigar Dinner is $99 pp (plus tax and gratuity). For reservations call  516-318-6004. To view the entire menu, click here. For the Facebook event, click here.

Hampton Cigar Company Simplifies the Art of Smoking

The Hampton Cigar Company, based in Westhampton, launched in 2014 with one central mission: to bring a high-quality product with no pretension to an industry with a lot of it. Whether you’ve been smoking cigars for 40 years or zero, their cigars are intentionally designed to eliminate the stress of buying cigars–leaving only pleasure.

All their cigars are the same square shape and size. They come finished with an easily removable pigtail cap, so you don’t need to invest in a cigar cutter. All you need to do is twist and pop off the cap and you’re ready to go. This simplicity doesn’t come at the cost of quality either. Each cigar is blended with the finest ingredients, crafted by hand in small batches and aged in a cedar tray. They produce three blends, all in one shape and one size, so there’s nothing intimidating about making your selection. The green-labeled cigar is their mild blend, the blue label is for the medium-bodied blend, and the red label is for the full-bodied blend.

You can purchase these cigars at our 3rd annual East End Craft Beer Festival on Friday, April 7th, 2017 at 7pm. With admission, you’ll get a souvenir tasting glass that you can use for unlimited samples of local craft beer, you’ll also be able to sample local spirits, and fare from local vendors, and get unlimited hors d’oeuvres, chili, and chowder by Bistro 72. Designated Driver Tickets will be available for $20 and include all food and non-alcoholic tastings. The critically-acclaimed Miles to Dayton will perform live as well. Tickets are $50 and available on TicketFly here. Invite your friends to the event on Facebook here. After the Festival the fun continues with an after party at Bistro 72! Local musician Michael Duca will play live and you’ll be able to enjoy your cigar by our outdoor fireplace and lounge.

If you can’t make the Festival, join us at Bistro 72 on April 20th at 7 PM and invite your friends to Steak & Cigar Night. For reservations, call 631-369-3325. Otherwise, you can find these cigars in the lobby of Hotel Indigo Long Island – East End and enjoy them by our outdoor fireplace.
